Hi Rob,

Upgrade went smoothly after I installed those missing db functions. But we're starting to notice latency issue with a simple query such as;

/ws/2/artist/79239441-bfd5-4981-a70c-55c3f15c1287

You can see it seems to the /ws/2/artist/artist taking 2.16 secs
.------------------------------------------------------------+-----------.
| Action | Time |
+------------------------------------------------------------+-----------+
| /ws/2/artist/begin | 0.000421s |
| /ws/2/artist/root | 0.002599s |
| /ws/2/artist/base | 0.000157s |
| /ws/2/artist/load | 0.011675s |
| /ws/2/artist/artist | 2.163075s |
| /ws/2/artist/end | 0.000396s |
'------------------------------------------------------------+-----------'
I also tried using the old version mb server against new upgraded db, and that version seems to be fine.

Any help is appreciated, since we're on hold to upgrade until this is resolved.

Thanks,

Swarup

Odd.

Are you running an autovacuum daemon on your postgres installation? In either case, it may be that the DB needs to have a VACUUM ANALYZE done on it. Try this:

cd musicbrainz-server/admin
./psql READWRITE
ANALYZE VACUUM

after that re-try the query and see if that improves things.

Hi,
I tried that. still same issue. Actually, I've tried the old version of mb server code against the upgraded db and that query seems fine. So it does seem to be the new code of mb server and doesn't seem related to the DB. Could it be I need to optimize settings in DBDefs.pm?

Thanks,

Swarup

Hi Rob,

Do you have any other suggestions for us. DB doesn't seem to be the issue. sqllog attached.

api query: /ws/2/artist/79239441-bfd5-4981-a70c-55c3f15c1287

Hi Rob,
http://tickets.musicbrainz.org/browse/MBS-5486

We're kind of stuck on this issue, and not able to go forward with our upgrade.

I would kindly appreciate, if you can look at it with a higher priority.

Thanks,

Swarup

Sorry. The whole team is in California right now and we were all quite busy over the last three days.

We discussed the issue last night and Ollie has already directed you towards a few more things to try. We'll be online all week to help you along in this process -- keep hitting us in IRC and we'll get his sorted post-haste.

Thanks!
