Re: MusicBrainz-users Digest, Vol 135, Issue 2

Johann Schoonees
Thanks Rob, Steve, Tom, Robert.  ProfChris decided that my release was close enough to an existing one to merit merging it.  But now I know how to add more media via my open edits.

Johann

It takes a while for a new release to get indexed.  So, just go to ?My Open Edits? (under the ?my data? section).  There you should find your edit to create the new release.  Select the release name from your edit, then you can simply edit it again and add the new CD?s.  Adding a new medium is an auto edit so it will be reflected immediately.

Doing what Steve Martin said works. Also, if it's a release for an existing
artist you can navigate to it from their page - it's listed there
immediately.

Hello everyone.
My name is Daniel, I'm currently a third year student pursuing a Bachelor
of Applied Math degree in Odessa National University in Ukraine.
I'm interested in contributing to musicbrainz project, because I really
love music and want to share my passion with other people.
I have 1 year experince in Java programming (Android apps and high-load web
services  development). I want to improve musicbrainz's search engine, both
lucene back-end and site front-end, if necessary. How can I learn in detail
about this tasks (requirements, desirable outcome etc.)
Thanks in advance,
Daniel.

That's probably easiest. Another way to find a
new-therefore-not-yet-indexed release (or artist, etc.) is to go to
"Search" from the orange navigation menu, and select the "direct
database search" method.
