accessibility issues with the music brains picard tagging program on osx¬

Sarah Alawami
Hello. I'm a blind user who is looking for a way to tag multiple mp3s with out too much hassle. I found the program music brains picard and though I would try it. it has some issues with voice over, a screen reader built in to mac osx 10.4 and up. here is a screen cast  of what happens when I try and use it.

Can this be looked in to? I take it this would be a powerful program if only I can use it. *smiles*

Take care all and be blessed.

Hi Sarah,

I know that my co-owner of Mojo Radio who is blind will not even try to use Music Brainz because of the problems you are listing. I had an extremely hard time trying to create a profile for one of the musicians I work for Josh Stone and I am a sighted user. Thank goodness one of the knowledgeable administrators took mercy on me and finished his profile. I have to be honest in saying that this can be a very difficult to maneuver system.

Re: accessibility issues with the music brains picard tagging program on osx¬

I sincerely hope they get this fixed as I don't want to boot up windows just to tag 3 mp3 files. I did it just once but if we are to keep excepting the music from the artists who want to submit, I want to make sure they are tagged correctly hence I was throng to find a mac solution to do tho and since iTunes only changes the xml library an snot the files then there's no point in trying until I exclusively use iTunes. lol!

but since I'm straying I;ll jus twit for a reply from the devs and see if they can work toward making the program as accessible as they can. I have the faith they can do it to, if they can code in I think coco.

Take care all and b blessed.

Hey Sarah,

Thanks for recording this screen cast, it shows very clearly that Picard is unusable for blind users. This upsets me and I'm sorry it doesn't work. I'm glad you made these problems known, otherwise we would've remained ignorant about them.

I'll do my best to fix these accessibility issues once I have time to work on Picard. I use a Mac too, so I'll be sure that it works with Voice Over.

Sarah Alawami
Hey glad you can try your best and glad you are one of the very few devs who are willing to work to make their program accessible for all. I look forward to an update.

Take care and be blessed.
